Biography
Kevin Moore studied BA (Hons) Fine Art at Hull School of Art and Post Graduate Art & Design Education at Goldsmiths College, University of London. As a graduate he was selected as one of ten emerging artists to represent the United Kingdom to exhibit in 'Germinations' a prestigious European group show in Lyon, Bonn & Breda. He has also been an award winner at the Atkinson Gallery in Somerset and Leicester Museum & Art Gallery.
Prior to working as a professional artist, Kevin has had substantial & successful career experience as an educator, having worked as an Art Teacher for 28 years, including being a Head of Creative & Expressive Arts and Head of Art.
Kevin is inspired by his surrounding landscape and enjoys working en plein air where he relishes the opportunity to evoke a sense of place.
Working predominantly in oils, Kevin's current work explores aesthetics in nature and the environment down to the smallest details to capture natures' tiny creatures, often once deceased, evoking a perception of the fragility of life and inviting us to open a dialogue about our own existence. His confident brushmarks juxtapose the miniature size of his subjects, resulting in large scale depictions of wildlife; elevating their tiny forms into iconic representations.
Kevin's studio is situated in the heart of Dorset, England, close to The National Trust's Hardy's Cottage in Thorncombe Woods. Arrange by email to visit his studio, to view his artwork and discuss current practice.
